Overnight survey drafting, explained

The time difference between your office and our production floor is not a drawback to manage. It is the entire point: your drafting happens while your office is closed, so it stops competing with everything else for daytime hours.

A day with CadLap in the loop

  1. Afternoon: crews close outField data comes in from the day's work. Your office packages jobs and sends them: points, deeds, sketches, the title commitment if there is one.
  2. Your evening: production startsOur floor opens as your office closes. Jobs are logged under numbers, scoped, and assigned to drafters who already know your standards.
  3. Overnight: drafting and QCDrawings are produced in your template and checked against the source documents by a second person. Ambiguities are flagged on the sheet, never guessed.
  4. Your morning: review and deliverFinished DWGs and PDFs are waiting. Your surveyor reviews, answers any flags, seals and sends. Drafting time on your clock: close to zero.

What this does to a firm's economics

For a small surveying firm, the scarce resource is the licensed surveyor's attention. Every hour spent drafting, or supervising drafting, is an hour not spent on boundary determinations, client work or business. The overnight model converts drafting from a daytime cost into a background process: the work leaves at the end of the day and returns finished.

Standard jobs sent at the end of your business day return within 24 hours; larger scopes within 24 to 48. The window is confirmed per job before we start, and we hold it.

Common questions

What happens if a job is late?

You hear from us before the window closes, not after, with a revised time and the reason. Chronic lateness is how drafting partners die; we treat the confirmed window as the product.

Who do we talk to during our business day?

Jobs and questions sent during your day are collected and answered as production starts. Flags and questions from our side arrive with the delivery, marked on the sheet, so the morning review is one pass.

Is overnight work rushed work?

No. The overnight window is a full production shift of eight to nine hours, which is more continuous drafting time than most in-house techs get in a day between interruptions. QC happens inside the same shift, before delivery.

Can you handle same-week surges?

Yes, surge absorption is the model's main use. Tell us the volume coming and we confirm capacity before you commit to your client.
